How to Connect to a Server

How do you connect to a server in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)?

To connect to a server in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac), you to need to first select the Multiplayer option from the Main menu.

Since you want to configure a server that is not on our local network, select Add Server from the menu.

Next, you need to configure the server information. This is the screen that you will initially see that defaults the server name to Minecraft Server (you will want to change this name to something more unique):

Enter the server name and address and then select the Done button. In this tutorial, we have entered the following information to connect to the Hypixel Network:

Server Name:     Hypixel Server
Server Address:  mc.hypixel.net

This will take you back to the “Play Multiplayer” screen. Now you can join this server by selecting it in the list and then clicking on the Join Server button.

In this tutorial, we are now ready to connect to the Hypixel Server that we just set up.
